Puneeth is a darling, says Kollywood's Trisha

For several years now, Tamil actress Trisha's name has been bandied about in Sandalwood circles during the casting of many big-budget A-lister movies. But it just never happened, until, of course, she was signed up opposite Puneeth Rajkumar for the Kannada remake of the Telugu hit Dookudu. By her own admission though, Trisha's Kannada debut could have happened a long time ago.
"There have been talks on and off, but it just never materialized, either because of date, money or script issues," says the actress, who was in Bangalore on Sunday.
Eventually, when the Dookudu remake, tentatively called Rajakumara, offer came to her, Trisha says that everything fell in place.
"I have worked with this team before. In the 10 days that I have been on the set, it felt like working on a Tamil film. Everyone on the set is fluent in the language, including Puneeth, which made it even more comfortable for me.
That apart, Puneeth is quite a darling to have as a co-star," says the actress.
But why did she choose a remake as her much-awaited Sandalwood debut? "I don't look at it as a remake, but as a fresh product for a new market. In the case of Dookudu, I like the whole package. I know it's not a heroine-centric film, but it is good to debut with a superstar," she states.

Trisha's film with Puneeth will, hopefully, not be her only Sandalwood project this year. "There's the trilingual RUM too, my first full-fledged action flick, in which I play the lead. It's about a girl and her issues with the villain," she says.
